Busy Weekend for Company 2

by the Webmaster

5/10/2010

First off, I would like to apologize for the delay in the site being updated. This post is going to be more of a blog style since I just can't do 7 individual posts for all the calls we ran like we normally do. It has been a busy weekend for us. Definitely one of the busiest weekends since Station 1 opened, which alleviated Company 2 from running to Company 5's territory as mutual aid, and with other mutual aid agreements that allow for all of our citizens in Roanoke County better overall fire protection.

Not only were we busy with calls, but we were also busy in house doing some cleaning. Engine 2 had the compartments cleaned and the station got a touch of organization and cleaning.

As for the calls, we started off Saturday morning with a fire alarm at Cardinal Glass, which was found to be a false alarm that was activated by a power outage in the area due to high winds. Engine 2 and Chief 2 handled. After about an hour back in quarters, Company 2 was sent to Mountain View Road near Herman L. Horn Elementary School for a motor vehicle crash. 2 cars with moderate damage, 1 patient was transported to the hospital. Engine 2 handled. Later on in the afternoon Company 2 went out on another MVC with the report of a person underneath a vehicle. Engine 2 arrived to find a disabled vehicle and put all units in service. Just before midnight Company 2 was dispatched with Company 12 for a commercial structure fire. Wagon 12 arrived to find a smoldering pile of ashes and put all units in service. Sunday afternoon Company 2 was called to assist Rescue 21 for lifting assistance. A short time after, Company 2 and Medic 2 were dispatched to the Blue Ridge Parkway for an MVC with a victim possibly entrapped. Units arrived on scene to find no entrapment, 3 patients were transported, and Engine 2 handled traffic control. A mulch fire sent Engine 2 to CVS in the Town of Vinton, Engine 2 handled and returned to quarters.
