by the Webmaster
7/28/2010
On Monday, July 26th, at about 4:30pm Wagon 1A of the Rocky
Mount Fire Department was involved in accident resulting in the
death of the two firefighters on board. The unit was enroute to
a working structure fire in the Penhook area of Franklin County
when, according to State Police, Wagon 1A; a 1988 Pierce pumper
driven by Chief Dillon, was struck in the side by a 2007 Ford
Escape while responding through the intersection of Route 40
East and School Board Road. Both men were thrown from the
apparatus which rolled several times after striking the roads
curb. The truck came to rest on top of a 2000 Ford Mustang but
the driver of that vehicle was not seriously injured.
Funeral arrangements are as follow:

Rocky Mount Fire Department from 4pm to 8pm on Thursday, July
