Engine 2 Handles Possible
Structure Fire

3/21/2010 Vinton Dispatched notified Companies 2
and 6 to a possible structure fire in the 500 block of Cedar
Avenue. Engine 2 was quickly on the road. Assistant Chief 2 (Heptinstall)
arrived on scene, reported nothing showing from the exterior of
a 2 story apartment complex, and assumed Cedar command. Upon
further investigation AC-2 advised that there was a light smoke
condition in
the unit. Engine 2 arrived on scene and was notified that
the source of smoke was due to a water heater with a failed
electrical component. Command called the incident to be a can
handle for Engine 2 as the fire was extinguished by cutting
power to the unit. Engine 2 cleared shortly after. Units responding
from 2: Engine 2 Other units responding: Wagon 6
(Mount Pleasant), Rescue 22 (Vinton Rescue), Medic 23 (Vinton
Rescue), EMS-2 (Roanoke County), and Vinton PD
