Severe Weather Brings 8 Calls

Severe weather rolled through the area causing multiple runs for the Vinton Fire Department this afternoon. Engine 2 was dispatched to a possible structure fire in Company 5's (Hollins) first due when a power line caused a tree to catch fire close to a residence. Engine 2 arrived and remained on scene until AEP arrived. Company 2 was then dispatched to Hawthorne Towers in Company 1's (North County, RCFRD) first due for a subject stuck in an elevator. Wagon 2 responded and assisted Medic 1 in the removal of the victim. Ladder 2 then handled a residential fire alarm on East Augusta Ave. Brush 2 handled a power line down on Terry Dr. While returning to Station 2, Wagon 2 was dispatched to Deer Run Dr for a tree on fire and power line arcing. Engine 2 handled multiple service calls after the storm as well.

July 4th was busy for Company 2. The day started with an assist to Rescue 2. Tanker 2 was on stand by for the fireworks display at Vineyard Park. Engine 2 was sent to the War Memorial for the fireworks and handled an illegal burn during the display. Later that night Company 2 was dispatched for a commercial fire alarm in the 1500 block of Wyndham Dr.
