About Us:

Since 1925 the Vinton Fire Department has
served the citizens of the Town of Vinton, Virginia and Eastern Roanoke
County, Virginia. VFD also runs mutual aid responses to North Roanoke
County, the City of Roanoke, Botetourt County, and Bedford County. VFD
is a combination department comprised of 20+ volunteers, and career
firefighters from Vinton Fire and EMS and Roanoke County Fire and Rescue
Department. During the daylight hours Monday through Friday (6am to 6pm)
calls are handled by the career staff. During the night time (6pm to
6am) calls are handled by the volunteers. Weekends are also handled by
the volunteers. In 2009, the Vinton Fire Department answered 359 calls
total.
The VFD operates a modern fleet of
apparatus with one engine, one ladder, one wagon, and a tanker. The
department also operates one brush unit and a response vehicle.
VFD responds first due to all structure
fires, fire alarms (FA's), motor vehicle crashes (MVC'S), carbon
monoxide alarms, and assists EMS on various calls in the Town of Vinton
and Eastern Roanoke County. |
