The current home of the Vinton
Fire Department was built in 1976 with the department moving in in 1977.
Station 2 houses all the equipment of the VFD in 3 full bays that
stretch the entire length of the building and have front and rear
access. Station 2 is one of only 2 Roanoke County fire stations with a
fire pole. Off of the apparatus bays we have the chief's office, a
radio/report room, common area, and various storage areas. Other
features of the station include a second floor with a large
training/meeting room, bunk room, and day room for the members.
A vent system was put in place in
2008 in the apparatus bays to clean the air of harmful emissions.
Future plans for Station 2 include
a complete remodel anticipated in the next few years. |
